Weather-weak link — Hoi An, early Dec December sits at the tail of central Vietnam's rains; Hoi An occasionally floods — lantern streets under water is a real (if not typical) scenario. The two sauces that matter Nước mắm (fish sauce) is fish — usually fine, but flag cross-contamination. Mắm tôm (fermented shrimp paste) is shellfish and hides in many dips and braises — the card above names it. Cambodia: prahok is fish paste, but kapi (shrimp paste) is the same risk — print a Khmer version of the card before departure (checklist below).

Shoes everyone is happy to soak — quick-draining trail shoes beat waterproof boots that stay wet for days.
Dry clothes in a sealed bag for after Day 6.
Paradise Cave is dry and boardwalked — normal shoes fine.

Sun protection even for the 04:00 start.

Money

Weather — the wet-week plan

Early Dec is the wet-season tail in central Vietnam: showers likely, flooding possible but not typical.
Rain-days already have answers: Day 8 (cooking class) works wet; Paradise Cave is dry; swap Ba Na Hills to the clearer of Days 8/9 afternoons if needed.
Never force a water/cave activity if the operator changes it for safety.
